Privacy Policy
Short version. This is a one page company site. It does not have accounts, logins, shopping carts, comment forms, newsletters, or any of the machinery that normally exists to collect things about you. Longer version follows, because the short version is not legally sufficient and lawyers get twitchy.
What this site collects
Nothing that identifies you. There are no cookies set by Wise Wolf Media LLC, no tracking pixels, no advertising networks, no data brokers, and no forms to fill out.
What happens automatically
Two things happen on any website, including this one, that are worth naming plainly.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested, which typically includes an IP address, a browser identifier, the page requested, and a timestamp. This is how web servers work. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share them.
- Fonts. This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches those files, your IP address is visible to Google, which handles it under Google's own privacy terms. If this concerns you, a browser extension that blocks third party requests will prevent it, and the site will still work with substitute fonts.
Visitor counting
We may run a privacy-respecting visitor counter to see roughly how many people reach this page. If enabled, it is a cookieless, aggregate counter that does not use fingerprinting, does not follow you across other websites, and does not produce a record tied to you as an individual. It answers one question, which is whether anyone showed up.
Links to other places
The main thing this site does is send you to The Wise Wolf on Substack, and to the Substack pages of our correspondents. Once you land on Substack, you are governed by Substack's privacy policy, not this one. Substack collects considerably more than we do, because Substack is an actual platform with accounts and payments. The same applies to YouTube and to any other outside site we link to.
If you write to admin@wisewolfmedia.net, we receive your message, your email address, and whatever else you chose to put in it. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful and we do not add you to any list, because there is no list.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information a company holds about you. Since we do not maintain a database of visitors, in most cases the honest answer to such a request is that there is nothing to produce. If you believe we hold something about you and want it removed, write to admin@wisewolfmedia.net and we will handle it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date at the top. We will not quietly expand what we collect and hope nobody notices, on the general principle that doing so is exactly the sort of thing this publication exists to write about.
